I completed my contribution for the painting competition this morning ...

And the final version:
How do you like prototype and base? Is there anything you would have done differently / I could have done better?
Immediately after having completed this project, I had an idea for next year's competition:
As this competition takes place in Bavaria (and there even is a prize for the best Bavarian mini), the next Saucepan will be a Bavarian girl with the corresponding base! I already have a few ideas in mind how that could look like ... :-)
Miniature painting, terrain building, differently themed bases, dioramas, conversions, tutorials, reports on workshops and events for miniature painters. My projects have often been inspired by feedback of other hobbyists. This blog is for you! I hope that one day, it will be a source of mutual inspiration, a virtual meeting point for miniature painters to connect, share ideas, improve their skills and thus ultimately support each other in their creative work.

Almost there ...
I managed to progress the Saucepan base yesterday. Here's the result:
Next steps on the agenda: Fix the 'Saucepan prototype', paint the fried egg and glue it to the base, add grass or flowers (unfortunately, I forgot to take them with me and didn't get replacement stuff as the only hobby shop nearby doesn't have it. Anyway, almost ready for the Duke of Bavaria!

The Saucepans - Base for the prototype
I've been working a bit on the base for the Saucepan prototype. Here are some WIP pics:
Self-made Milliput cobblestones and a poor Imperial soldier hit by the deadly frying pan.
Fifty Two shades of grey and different inks (I used purple so that it fits in with the prototype's main colour).
For the rest of the base I used flower soil, painted and drybrushed it.
And here's a pic with the soldier painted (still WIP).
Sorry for the poor pics. All I have is my cellphone camera at the moment.

Preparing the prototype of 'The Saucepans' for the painting competition
Working on another addition to my ongoing project 'The Saucepans' (a unit of female dwarfs fighting with whatever household articles they can lay their hands on when their village is attacked by the enemy): a suitable base for my prototype.

I still have to add a fried egg on the floor and flower soil before painting it.
How do you like it so far?
I still need a suitable name / title for the mini to present it at the painting competition. Feel free to post suggestions in the comment section below!

The Saucepans
When I started painting back in 2012, a forum member suggested I should build a unit of female dwarf warriors wielding saucepans, frying pans and the like instead of the usual weapons. I wasn't good enough to put his suggestion into practice at that time, but I've never forgotten it.
So here's the first 'Saucepan':
I converted a female hammerer from Reaper and used GS to make a frying pan:
She still needs a suitable base, maybe cobblestones (and, of course, another fried egg on the base!). I'll do that when the unit is complete.
I've got a lot of female dwarfs I'd like to convert into 'Saucepans' ... what else would you like me to try and build with my (still rather poor) GS skills? Leave me a comment, and I'll regularly post updates with your suggestions put into practice.
