Xmas Project

 
Sorry for not having posted anything new for such a long time. I'm fully booked in my RL job until March 2018. So swamped with work and only a minimum of spare time to be creative.

Even though I'm working on a new diorama (see below), I'm going to enter this mini into the contest I mentioned in my last post, simply because I don't think my new Xmas project will be ready in time.

Here's my brandnew Xmas diorama though. Working title: "Fear not"
(As in Luke 2: 10-11: "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord."

The three minis are positioned in a way that they form a triangle, a symbol of the Holy Trinity in Christian art. And I tried to put into practice what I learned about the golden ratio at Roman Lappat's basing workshop two years ago.

 

As you can see on the pics, the background (which will be painted as skarry sky) is not flat. I hope this will add to it looking like an endless horizon (we'll see, I have never tried anything like this before).

As you can see here, the shepherd dropped his lantern in shock. :-)

To make it even more difficult, I'll try to add atmosphere colours to each and every colour I use - it's going to be a night scene with the main light coming from the angel.

In my mind's eye I can see the scene exactly how it should look like ... the question is: Will I be able to get it across with my painting skills?

How do like the concept so far? Any suggestions for improvement or additional ideas?

Santa Trump ended in second place at this year's event of my local GW shop 'Snowman on Parade'. No wonder as my partner was competing with me ... and won! :-)

One of the things I like best: The snowman does or rather did, in fact, have a carot. Who has found it? :-)

Hohohooooooo!

Santa Trump got finished much faster than planned due to a Facebook reminder that the event was going to take place today instead of Dec. 23.

So I speeded things up a bit. Here's how it looked like yesterday:

Today I finished the last steps:

I delivered it on time, and the shop owner discovered she had inadvertently entered the wrong date on Facebook. In fact, it is Dec. 23 .... :-DDDD

Anyway, the project is finished. How do you like it?

Santa Trump is coming!

Still not much hobby time left, but small progress nevertheless. Here are some pics of 'Santa Trump':

I'm going to use plasticard to transform the styrofoam hemisphere you can see in the background into a 'Make America Great Again' peaked cap. Of course, there will also be washing instructions because the original cap Trump ordered for his followers ironically does have a 'Made in China' tag on it. :-)

Meanwhile I have a few ideas how the presents he will bring could look like.

Does anyone know where I could get an angry-looking miniature cat? Unfortunately, I haven't found any yet. I'd love to include an allusion to this Biden Obama meme though:

Santa Trump

Even though I have almost no hobby time left with lots of huge translation jobs to finish, I spontaneously decided to come up with a small project for my local GW shop's Xmas event. It's going to be a not so small 'Santa Trump' standing on a pile of Xmas presents (cement bags for the wall along the US-Mexiko border? ...). If you have a suggestion how these presents could look like, let me know.
