Update on my project for the painting contest Duke of Bavaria 2017:
Wooden plinth with crackle medium for a desert landscape and base coat
First layer with unpainted self-made road sign and camel
Desert landscape with Agrax Earthshade ink and dry-brushing
The desert landscape looks more interesting after dry-brushing it twice.
Next steps:
- Paint the road sign
- Add painted road sign to the base
- Improve the mini I want to glue to the base
- Add shadows
- Add the sign with the Sufi saying 'Trust in God, but tie up your camel' to the base
Who else is planning to attend the Duke of Bavaria in Ingolstadt, Germany, this year? I'd love to meet you there at the end of the month.

The desert landscape looks amazing; the crackle paint texture is great, and the colours have brought it up really nicely. I wonder how it would look on smaller mini bases - perhaps the texture would be too coarse? Makes me wish I had a desert project to try it out for though...
